OUR STORY…
In 1993 Kool Runnings Restaurant was born on Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The restaurant was founded by Tony Reid and his family who had just moved to Atlanta from Kingston, Jamaica. As a family owned business, the Reid family did everything in the business, from washing dishes to waiting tables.
Kool Runnings is famous for its authentic jerk pit chicken, oxtails, and codfish fritters and currently has three locations in the Atlanta area. A fourth restaurant is scheduled to open at the Atlantic Station development in Midtown Atlanta in August, 2008.
The chain of restaurants has been named “Best Jamaican Restaurant” by Creative Loafing readers for eight consecutive years (1999-2007), was voted the # 1 restaurant in 2003 by the National African and Culinary Arts Hospitality Association and has been positively reviewed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
